5 ways to extend your wedding celebration

You will have spent days, months and even years planning your wedding, poring over every little detail to ensure the event you and your partner have always dreamed of. So, it seems a shame to let it be over in just one day.

As any married couple will tell you, those months and years of planning don’t make your wedding day go any slower. Savour every moment as your wedding will be over in a flash.

Make sure your wedding celebration doesn’t come to an end too quickly by exploring our top ways to extend the festivities.

1. Make a weekend of it

Weekend-long or ‘three-day’ weddings have become particularly popular in recent years.

Modern-day couples want their weddings to last even longer, and wedding venues and other suppliers are all too willing to accommodate this.

As you can imagine, planning a weekend-long wedding isn’t as simple as it seems. For your efforts, you’ll be able to keep the party going and give you, your new husband or wife, and your guests an endlessly fun and unforgettable occasion.

Separating your wedding weekender into different events is the way to organise this extended celebration in a stress-free manner.

Most weekend-long weddings consist of a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, the main event (i.e. your wedding ceremony and reception), and a farewell brunch.

You could even use your wedding weekend to explore the local area and officially turn your wedding stay into a mini-break.

2. Enjoy the final countdown in style

Your wedding week is certain to be a flurry of activity. You’ll have a million and one things to do during those final days before you say “I do.”

Preparations may include finalising your guest list, getting your engagement ring professionally cleaned, doing a final wardrobe check and a dress rehearsal, and practising your walk down the aisle in your wedding shoes.

Turn those visits to the hair salon, beauty parlour and other pre-wedding haunts into occasions by inviting close friends and relatives to share the experience.

Enjoy a well-timed pamper session with your bridal party and get excited about your forthcoming nuptials.

3. Host a night before get together

The night before your wedding can be a nerve-racking yet exciting time, so don’t spend it alone.

Couples marrying right here at Holmewood Hall can book into our beautiful cottage from 5pm the night before their wedding.

You and five other VIPs can spend the night however you like and wake up to a delicious continental breakfast to set you up for the very special day ahead.

The happy couple and a selection of their guests can also stay at Holmewood Hall on the night of the wedding in our stunning, newly renovated accommodation.

4. Ask about late licensing

Many wedding venues, including ours, provide late licensing so your wedding reception can continue that little bit longer.

By choosing a late licence venue you can keep the party going, enjoy your wedding celebration into the early hours, and witness a lot more questionable dance moves from your wedding guests.

A late licence can be a real deal-breaker for many couples. Be sure to consider this early in the wedding planning process before you select your dream wedding venue.

5. Throw an amazing after party

If, even with a late licence, you want the party to continue, hosting a wedding after-party may provide the perfect end and the opportunity to make more fabulous wedding memories. As with any wedding-related event, however, planning makes perfect.

A wedding after-party doesn’t necessarily mean pulling an all-nighter either as Hitched explains:

“If you’re going to save some budget for an after-party, how about spending it on a post-reception celebration the next day?

The festivities can continue with either the whole guest list or a closer-knit group of friends and family. It’s another opportunity for you to continue your big day, create more memories and round off a lovely weekend.”

Whether you’re opting for an extended celebration or a traditional, one-day wedding, Holmewood Hall is the perfect place to mark the occasion.
